Too Close On Purpose, the song, describes my confusion and resulting inquiry when a desired connection doesn't occur with a person I had hoped to get to know.* The title fits the whole album, which features an up-close-and-personal collection of songs spanning a couple decades of my life. Here are some reviews: "This songwriter's songs are nakedly vulnerable and delivered with persuasive confidence. The emotions expressed...feel real. Musically, they are distinctive...
convincing." -- Bay Area Music Magazine
And Fran Gray of Portland Music Central said the CD was full of "torturous mind shadows...and the strange idiosyncrasies of human behavior." She called it, "A celebration of love and life...a celebration of women in music."
About Too Close On Purpose
I've spent the past several
years seeking ways to express
myself, and receive others,
with the same care and power
that music has afforded me.
I want to live life more fully
and experience joy through my relationships as well as
through the arts.
All my life I have found that
even with people who
seem to share similar
values to mine, interactions have
been so painful,
I have chosen to avoid relating
and to write songs instead.
